Islamic world should fulfill its duties toward Palestinians: speaker

TEHRAN -- Majlis Speaker Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel insisted on Tuesday that the Islamic world should fulfill its obligations toward the Palestinian nation. In a meeting with the visiting Algerian Minister of War Veterans (Moudjahidine) Mohamed Cherif Abbas, Haddad-Adel said it is necessary that the Islamic countries react against the Israel's brutal crimes against Palestinian residents of the Gaza Strip.

He then expressed hope that holding a summit of Organization of Islamic Countries (OIC) could help defuse the crisis.
The speaker also emphasized the need for reinforcing the affinities between Iran and Algeria as two brotherly Muslim countries.
Making a reference to the geopolitical importance of Algeria in the northern African Continent, he said, “Algeria is one of the influential states in the Islamic world.”
Mohamed Cherif Abbas said Tehran and Algiers share common views about many international issues.
He said the Palestinian issue is of great importance to all Islamic countries and it is incumbent upon the Islamic world to react swiftly in this regard
